How to Clean up UPVC Window Frames and Glass

Windows are one of the most noticeable parts of your home — but they’re also the first to show signs of weathering and dirt. Dust, grease and watermarks can quickly dull the glass, while UPVC frames can lose their original brightness over time.

With HG UPVC Cleaner and HG Glass & Mirror Cleaner, you can easily restore both the frames and glass to look like new again.

Why windows and frames get dirty

Weather, pollution, condensation and everyday dust all play a role in making windows look tired.
          – Outside surfaces collect grime, pollen, and rain residue.
          – Inside surfaces often build up fingerprints, condensation streaks and dust.
          – UPVC frames lose their shine as airborne particles and grease cling to the surface.

Regular cleaning prevents long-term discolouration, especially on white frames where dirt is more visible.

The best way to clean UPVC and glass

For the best results, use both products together:
          – HG UPVC Cleaner is specially developed for safely removing dirt, grease, and atmospheric deposits from UPVC window frames, doors, and sills — without damaging the material or leaving residue.
          – HG Glass & Mirror Cleaner gives you a streak-free, sparkling finish on glass, mirrors and other smooth surfaces.

Step-by-step: how to clean UPVC frames and window glass*

          1. Prepare the area – Wipe away loose dust and cobwebs from the frames and surrounding areas. If possible, open the window so you can reach all sides comfortably.
          2. Clean the frames –  Spray  HG UPVC Cleaner directly onto the UPVC frame, including corners and edges where dirt collects.
Leave the cleaner to work for a few minutes so it can loosen the grime.
Then, wipe thoroughly with a soft, non-abrasive cloth or sponge. For heavier dirt, you can repeat the process or use a soft brush for the corners.
Once clean, rinse or wipe with a damp cloth to remove any remaining residue.
          3. Clean the glass – Spray HG Glass & Mirror Cleaner evenly onto the window glass.
Wipe immediately with a clean, dry cloth, preferably a microfibre or lint-free one.
Work in overlapping circular or vertical motions for the best streak-free result.
If necessary, repeat on the inside for a perfectly clear view.
          4. Dry and polish – Use a dry cloth or paper towel to buff the glass and frame for a spotless shine.

          Keeping your windows looking great

To maintain clean and bright windows:
          – Clean exterior glass and frames every few weeks, or more often if you live near the coast or a busy road.
          – Wipe away condensation regularly to prevent marks.
          – Avoid using harsh or abrasive products that can dull UPVC.
          – Keep microfibre cloths clean — dirty ones can cause streaks.

With regular care, you’ll prevent long-term staining and keep your windows looking like new.

Clean, bright windows make a big difference to how your home looks and feels. With HG UPVC Cleaner  and HG Glass & Mirror Cleaner, you can easily remove dirt, grease and streaks from both frames and glass — leaving every window crystal clear and shining again, inside and out.
