Protect your hair from chlorine damage
Spending lots of time in the pool or sea this summer? Chlorine or salt water can both be harsh on your hair. Chlorine can cause the hair to feel dry by stripping away natural oils, leaving hair feeling dry and frizzy, while salt water can also cause dehydration leaving hair tangled.
Before swimming brush your hair, wet it with fresh water and apply a generous amount of leave-in conditioner to help protect the hair. Wear a swimming cap can create an even stronger barrier! Once you’re out the water, try to rinse the chlorine or salt water from your hair as soon as possible and gently brush through with a detangling brush.
Less heat
This summer try reducing your use of heat styling tools to protect your hair from unnecessary heat damage. With warmer weather, airdrying your hair should take less time too. If you do use heat to style your hair, opt to use hair tools on a lower temperature and apply a heat protectant before styling. Heatless curling sets are also perfect for achieving the bouncy blow dry look complete heat- free.

Tame summer frizz
If your hair becomes frizzy or unmanageable during the summer weather a good anti-frizz serum can help smooth and tame fly aways. Avoid over brushing your hair as this can create more frizz. Cool and comfortable hair styles such as braids are a great hairstyle option on those super warm days!
A satin hair bonnet is a go to option for keeping your hair at bay overnight, perfect for protecting your hair, reducing frizz and breakage.
Summer care for healthy hair!
During summer, it’s important to protect your skin but we often forget our scalps! A healthy scalp is at the root to healthy hair so keeping it protected should be a key part of your summer hair care routine! If you spend a lot of time outdoors during summer, use a SPF designed for your scalp to protect against UV rays and sunburn.
Apply the scalp SPF to the exposed areas such as your partings and re-apply regularly especially after swimming or spending long periods of time outdoors. For extra protection, wear a hat or cap to shield your scalp away from the sun which will help protect both your scalp and your hair!
Fresh trim, fresh start
To prevent damage travelling further up your hair shafts, make sure to trim split ends regularly.
Regular trims help keep your hair looking fresh, healthy, and well-maintained throughout the summer.
Aim for a trim every 6-8 weeks to keep split ends at bay and maintain the overall health of your hair.
